New Book Teaches Strength, Speed And Power Using Resistive Exercise Bands And Tubing

Aug. 12, 2005

AKRON, Ohio  – A new book for individuals and professionals who want to learn about affordable and versatile resistance band training is now available through the publisher, Human Kinetics, and The Hygenic Corporation.

The book, "Strength Band Training," explains and presents 106 exercises using resistive exercise bands and tubing to address every major muscle group. The book was co-authored by Phillip Page, a physical therapist, athletic trainer and certified strength and conditioning specialist and Todd Ellenbecker, a licensed physical therapist and sports clinic director.

The book explains how to use resistive bands and tubing to isolate muscles for a complete customized workout or as a supplement to free weights and machines. In addition to demonstrating strengthening exercises for upper body and lower body, it demonstrates innovative exercises developed and used in Europe that emphasize core strength; speed; and agility. It also provides sport-specific exercises for running, hockey, swimming, golf, baseball and softball, tennis, football and soccer.

"These exercises have been used by strength professionals in training top athletes as well as physical therapists when rehabilitating patients," said Page.

"Strength Band Training is a must for anyone who wants to safely enter the portable, affordable and versatile world of resistance band training," said Mark Verstegen, President and Founder of Athletes' Performance in Tempe, Arizona.

Many exercises in the book also can be applied to rehabilitation and therapy for users at any level of strength or ability. The book retails for $17.95 and can be purchased at www.humankinetics.com or by calling The Hygenic Corporation at 800-321-2135.
