HYGENIC INTRODUCES NEW THERA-BAND® RESISTANCE BAND DISPENSING SYSTEM FOR IMPROVED SALES TRACKING, SAFETY AND HYGIENE

March 26, 2006

Akron, OH -- The Thera-Band division of The Hygenic Corporation is introducing a new resistance band dispensing system for healthcare professionals.

The new Thera-Band system is the first to meet a number of unmet industry needs. It enables tracking unit-of-use sales and inventory; addresses the growing concern about staph infections in hospitals, nursing homes, and athletic team settings; meets FDA labeling requirements for latex warnings; and provides proper safety instructions to every patient.

The new system features single color resistance band dispensers with 30 individually wrapped 5-foot bands, each with its own latex warning, bar code, and safety instructions sheet. Each band insert refers patients to www.Thera-BandAcademy.com for free, printable exercises for all applications. Dispenser packs are available in the universally recognized Thera-Band colors of yellow, red, green, blue, and black, the five most widely used Thera-Band resistance bands.

According to Mark Anderson, director of marketing for Thera-Band brand products, for many healthcare professionals, elastic bands are an expense item and lack the appropriate packaging and labeling to bill patients for the bands for home-based programs. The new Thera-Band Resistance Band Dispenser Packs allow them to convert the bands they distribute from an expense item to a revenue stream, or refer patients to Thera-Band dealers and distributors for purchase.

"Typically our bands are given to consumers by a professional who purchases them in bulk rolls and cuts them to length," said Anderson. "Today, many clinics and hospitals need to improve the tracking of product usage. The inserts with each band are bar coded for tracking and billing. Most importantly, providing pre-wrapped bands to individuals helps limit cross-contamination between sick patients who otherwise would be sharing their equipment. It also provides the option of selling the product to customers who want to continue working with bands after their therapy ends and they do their exercises at home."

The suggested price of the dispenser pack, sold through Thera-Band distributors, is $85-$125, depending on the resistance level. To locate a near-by distributor, call 1-800-321-2135
